The greatest advantage in Switzerland is that the city centres are not spread-out. Distances are very short. This means that for instance in Basel, you may tour around the city by foot without any difficulties. You don’t need to be an athlete for that. If you would like to discover the city centre of Basel, we really recommend the famous five tours across the historic old town. Each shows you a different perspective of the city and its deveopment. The tours lead you to the main museums and across the most astonishing squares. Enjoy overwhelming views from the hills of Basel and get interesting insights into the city’s history.
All of the tours start and end at the Marketplatz (market square) at the corner of Sattelgasse. Choose one the tours and follow the signposts throughout the city. Each route has its own color and was named after a famous scholar, artist or scientist.
