Interview # 6
What’s your responsibility in the hotel?
I’m a front office representative. I take care of check-ins and check-outs, billings and carry out reservations.
What do you like about the hotel industry?
I perceive the hotel business to be the most amazing profession in the world. Every day brings along new challenges and adventures. Being able to please guests and find solutions for imminent difficulties, that is the utmost satisfaction. We accomplish different administrative tasks and tackle customer demands. Compared to the organizational aspect, the human aspect is the decisive factor.
How did you get interested in this profession?
I finished my studies in tourism. However, working in an agency didn’t appeal to me. Therefore, I quickly diverge from it and found that the hotel business matched more my personality.
Is there anybody else in your family working in hospitality?
No one in my family, except for my husband works in hospitality; however, I grew up in a family business. Our grocery store was managed by the fourth generation. Welcoming and serving customers is simply innate.
How long have you been working in hospitality?
I’ve been working in hospitality for already 10 years.
Personally, what has been your most wonderful experience in the industry?
During my winter season in the Canton de Valais (south-western Switzerland), I used to enormously take pleasure in wedding banquets. Seeing happy customers satisfied with our efforts simply lead to tremendous joy.
How do you perceive hotels when you are on holidays?
When I travel with my husband, we’re mostly attentive of the reception, friendliness and cleanliness. We take a close look at the rooms and the organization of the breakfast service. We examine the content and the quality of the buffet.
What’s your utmost commandment in your profession?
It is my goal to satisfy our guest! The most beautiful contribution is a serene and joyful guest. We are lucky to work in a very mutually respectful and friendly environment. This positive energy helps us to give our best.
